The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will today present the ceremonial beaded crown to former Governor of Oyo State and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja.

The event, scheduled to take place at the Olubadan Palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan, will see Otun Olubadan joining other kingmakers as a beaded-crown-wearing monarch in Ibadan.

You will recall that Ladoja publicly announced his acceptance of the crown during a live radio programme in Ibadan.

Since Ladoja’s announcement, his private residence in Bodija has become a hub of activity, with numerous visitors arriving to congratulate and encourage him.

This is a significant step in fulfilling the extant laws of the state concerning the Olubadan Declaration and ascendancy. The letter, signed by the Olubadan himself, was believed to have been delivered to High Chief Ladoja over the weekend.

The Olubadan-in-Council meeting, where the beaded crown will be presented, marks the inaugural session of the highest decision-making body of the Ibadan chieftaincy system since the new Olubadan assumed office on July 12.

The Olubadan is the prescribed and consenting authority on all chieftaincy matters in Ibadanland.

It was also gathered that all arrangements for the presentation of the beaded crown to Ladoja have been finalized, with the Oluwo Afobaje of Ibadanland expected to bless the crown before its presentation.

Additionally, acting Governor Bayo Lawal may be present to deliver the staff of office and address the gathering.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, is also expected to attend.
