Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The coronation ceremony will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the historic Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
Oba Ladoja, a former Governor of Oyo State, makes history as the first ex-governor in Nigeria to ascend a traditional throne.
His nomination was unanimously endorsed by the Olubadan-in-Council, following the passing of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, on July 7, 2025.
The development is widely regarded as a unifying moment for Ibadan, with many viewing Ladoja’s emergence as a blend of political experience and deep-rooted cultural heritage.
