The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has sworn in 17 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, urging them to place the interest of the state above personal or political considerations in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony held at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Agodi, in Ibadan, Makinde said the appointments were based strictly on competence and merit.
He explained that the selection process followed a transparent examination procedure and ensured fair representation across the geopolitical zones of the state.
The governor advised the new Permanent Secretaries not to see their appointments as a reward for personal loyalty to him but as an opportunity to serve the state diligently.
According to him, political leaders and administrations will come and go, but the interest of Oyo State must remain paramount at all times.
Makinde also charged the appointees to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, transparency and professionalism, stressing the need for them to uphold probity in public service and avoid any conflict between personal interests and official duties.
The newly sworn-in officials include Permanent Secretaries drawn from the mainstream civil service, the education sector, the local government service, the House of Assembly Service Commission, and the Office of the Auditor-General.
