The Police Command in Oyo State has confirmed the kidnapping of Mr. Benedict Akika, a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), by gunmen.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, verified the incident in an interview with on Thursday in Ibadan.
According to reports, Akika was abducted on Tuesday evening at his residence in Olorunda Abba, Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Osifeso stated that the command had initiated an investigation into the matter and assured the public that updates would be provided as soon as the investigation was concluded.
“Investigation has commenced into the matter. Updates will be provided accordingly,” Osifeso said.
An eyewitness described the attack as a well-coordinated operation, noting that the gunmen overpowered Akika’s security personnel and whisked him away in a vehicle, leaving the community in panic and confusion. (NAN)
