Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has issued a stern warning to civil servants, emphasizing that lateness and absenteeism will no longer be tolerated.
This follows a surprise inspection of government offices in Awka, where he observed that many employees were absent well after the official 10:00 a.m. resumption time.
Describing the situation as “unacceptable” and detrimental to productivity, Governor Soludo directed that any civil servant not at their post by 10:00 a.m. will face immediate disciplinary action, including suspension without pay.
The governor stressed that this measure is part of broader efforts to enhance discipline, efficiency, and accountability in the state civil service. He highlighted that consistent absence undermines the government’s ability to serve the public effectively.
While not an automatic dismissal, repeated negligence could attract more severe consequences under the Soludo administration’s reforms aimed at improving civil service performance and ensuring workers fulfill their responsibilities diligently.
