The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, has expressed regret over the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) failure to serve the people of the state amidst the ongoing political crisis.

Governor Fubara emphasized that the state now focuses on actions rooted in truth rather than party politics.
Speaking while hosting a delegation from the Senate Committee on Privatisation and Commercialization, led by its Chairman, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Fubara highlighted the state’s shift away from strict party affiliations to a more independent stance to uphold democracy.
“In our state today, we are no longer adhering strictly to party lines. We are part of a movement, so don’t blame me if I don’t align closely with the party,” Fubara stated.
“The party has failed us here. We are standing firmly on the soil of Rivers State to defend democracy.”
Governor Fubara urged the committee to consider the interests of Rivers State in their recommendations regarding the privatisation and commercialisation of public companies.
He stressed the importance of the state acquiring stakes in these companies to ensure their protection and viability.
“I appeal to you that in this privatisation process, any matter involving our state should see the Rivers State Government as interested. We have the resources to acquire shares or portions of these companies,” Fubara said.
“If there is any opportunity available, let us know the details so we can take ownership. Owning these assets ensures their protection and viability for the state and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
