Starting Monday, August 12, 2024, the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line will increase its daily trips from 54 to 72, though the Sunday schedule will remain the same.

Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), announced that the improved service will shorten travel time between Marina and Mile 2 from 25 minutes to approximately 18 minutes.

This enhancement means a train will run every 18 minutes in both directions, allowing commuters better trip planning.

In addition to the increased frequency, Engr. Akinajo introduced a 25% fare discount for travel during off-peak hours, specifically between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm daily.

These changes aim to reduce journey times, attract more riders during off-peak periods, and decrease transportation costs. Updated timetables are available on the LAMATA website, at stations, and on social media.

Since its launch on September 4, 2023, the Blue Rail Line has served nearly two million passengers.
