The Oyo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing potable water to all residents of the state, without bias or discrimination.

This assurance was given by the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Water Corporation, Hon. Elias Adeojo, during a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Agodi, Ibadan.

Hon. Adeojo emphasized that the equitable distribution of clean water is a top priority for the present administration under Governor Seyi Makinde.

He noted that this commitment is reflected in the governor’s Roadmap for Sustainable Development, particularly under Chapter Eight of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Provision of water to the Correctional Centre and indeed to everyone in the state is clearly captured in Governor Makinde’s sustainable development agenda. In essence, there is no discrimination in water supply in Oyo State,” he stated.

Earlier, in his welcome remarks, the Assistant Controller of the Correctional Centre, Dr. Abdul Rahman Olayiwola, expressed gratitude to the state government for reconnecting the facility to the Oyo State Water Corporation’s supply network.

He disclosed that although the Centre has five boreholes, only one is currently functional. The reconnection, he said, has significantly improved water availability and the general well-being of inmates.

Dr. Olayiwola also commended Hon. Adeojo for his kind gesture in donating food items to the Correctional Centre, describing the visit as timely and impactful.
