Shooting Stars Sports Club secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Rivers United FC in their rescheduled Matchday 24 fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League played on Thursday at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.

The Ibadan-based side opened the scoring in the 34th minute when Sodiq Ibrahim nodded home a well-delivered cross from Ayobami Junior to give the hosts a 1–0 lead.

Rivers United later fought back to level the match, setting up a tense closing stage at the packed stadium.

Shooting Stars, however, restored their lead in stoppage time when Qamar Adegoke struck in the 90+1 minute to hand the Oluyole Warriors a dramatic 2–1 victory.

The match was, however, marred by what many supporters described as poor officiating from the beginning to the end of the encounter.

Despite the controversy surrounding the refereeing decisions, Shooting Stars held on until the final whistle to secure all three points at home.
