President Bola Tinubu’s administration on Monday in Ibadan donated 20 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses to the Oyo State government. The chairman of the Pacesetter Transport Service, Ibrahim Salami, received the buses on behalf of the state government.

This gesture is part of Mr. Tinubu’s measures to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal and promote safer, cleaner, and more reliable means of transportation.

Michael Oluwagbemi, CEO and programme director of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas initiative (P-CNGi), stated that the donation fulfills Mr. Tinubu’s promise.

According to Mr. Oluwagbemi, deploying the CNG buses is intended to address issues affecting Nigerians, particularly concerning petrol importation, among others.

He emphasized that the initiative is a testament to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at making life easier for Nigerians by recognizing the importance of transportation to the nation’s economy.

“The deployment of the CNG buses to Oyo State is to address some of the challenges associated with the issue of petroleum, thereby alleviating hardship in society.

President Tinubu is asking us to use our gas to drive transportation, industries, produce more foods and fertilizers, as well as other things that will make life easier for the people,” he said.

Mr. Salami commended the federal government for the gesture, noting that the initiative would enhance a smoother and easier transportation system in Oyo.

He also urged the P-CNGi to provide an additional 100 CNG buses to cover more routes in the state. NAN
