Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed his gratitude to God for granting him the grace to overcome political challenges, stabilize governance, and celebrate his first year in office.

Speaking at a special thanksgiving service held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Garrison Junction in Port Harcourt on Sunday, Governor Fubara thanked the people of Rivers State for their trust, support, and contributions that strengthened the government’s ability to achieve its successes.

Reflecting on the past year, “I still don’t believe that this administration is truly marking one year in office.” Fubara acknowledged.

He recalled the skepticism and challenges faced a few months ago, emphasizing that many did not believe it would be possible to gather in gratitude.

“You won’t understand. I can tell you with good authority that even before we started this program, there were plans to frustrate us. But to the glory of God, we are all gathered here to say, ‘God, thank you, that you have carried us and led us to this point.’”

Governor Fubara expressed his deep appreciation to the attendees, stating, “If we have God by our side, do we have any problem? I want to thank every one of you that are here to support us.

I want to thank you especially, on behalf of my family and the government. You have given us honor, and you have made us proud. Without you, there wouldn’t have been any record of success. So, I want to thank you.”

During the service, the Bishop of the Diocese of Niger Delta North, Rt. Rev. Wisdom Ihunwo, delivered a sermon emphasizing the importance of gratitude.

He highlighted that beyond just being alive, God provides victories over life’s most troubling challenges. Ihunwo advised that successes should always be attributed to God, as nothing can be achieved without His support.

The bishop assured that God would continue to protect the people of Rivers State and strengthen the Federal Government to improve the national economy and reduce hunger.
